Final year student shot dead in Bayelsa for arguing with armed robbers

– A student of Niger Delta University was killed at a bank in Bayelsa for arguing with robbers

– Before his death, the victim was helping admission seekers process NDU screening forms for a fee

– Wilson before his death was the immediate past Vice-President of the National Union of Bayelsa State Students and a leader of the Ogbia students’ union

A robbery attack at a new generation bank along the Sani Abacha Expressway, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital, has left a student dead.

According to a report on The Punch, suspected armed robbers on Tuesday, June 26, shot dead Obele Wilson, a final year undergraduate student of Bayelsa state-owned Niger Delta University, Amasoma for allegedly arguing with them.

It was gathered that the robbers stormed the premises of a new generation bank and held customers hostage. They dispossessed customers of their cash, mobile phones and other valuables.

But on getting to Wilson, an argument ensued between him and the robbers which resulted into his death.

Sources disclosed that before the incident, the victim was helping admission seekers process NDU screening forms for a fee.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the deceased was at the bank to sell forms to admission seekers.

The source said: “The killing of Wilson is very painful. He was a final year engineering student who was in the business of processing screening forms for admission seekers.

“He was on the premises of the bank on Tuesday to look for customers among those who had purchased the forms.

“Some armed robbers stormed the place and started collecting people’s valuables and cash at gunpoint.

“Wilson argued with them and in the process, they shot him.”

The source said after the shooting, some sympathisers tried to rush him to a hospital but he died on the way.

The source further blamed the incident on the on-going strike in the university.

He said: “If not for the strike, Wilson would have gone for his compulsory industrial training for final year engineering students. He was processing the training when the strike started.”

Wilson before his death was the immediate past Vice-President of the National Union of Bayelsa State Students and a leader of the Ogbia students’ union. He was from the Ogbia local government area.

400 UNIZIK students earn Chinese govt scholarship

About 400 students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University have gained admission into top Chinese universities through scholarship platform of HANBAN, the Director of the Chinese Cultural and Research Centre, Prof. Wang Bo, said on Thursday, in Awka.

Bo said it was as a result of the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China which was concretized at the national level, adding that it has opened doors for commerce and economic exchange between the two countries.

The Chinese Attache and Director of China Cultural Centre in Nigeria, Mr. Yan Xiangdong said that the several meetings between his President and President Muhammadu Buhari in the past one year have deepened the relationship between the two countries and is now bearing fruits.

Xiangdong who spoke during the inauguration of Chinese Cultural Research Centre of Nigeria domiciled at Nnamdi Azikiwe Univeristy, said that in the past one year, the President of the Peoples Republic of China has met three times with Buhari and both countries signed four different agreements.

Giving assurances about the future of the centre, he said: “We have built good relationship and we will join hands with you for the growth of the cultural centre domiciled in your university”.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Joseph Ahaneku in his speech traced the beginning of the Cultural Centre to the establishment of the Confucius Institute in the University in 2007 through the instrument of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Chinese Language Council International (HANBAN) and Xiamen University on one hand and UNIZIK on the other hand.

Ahaneku extolled the intention of the centre and pleaded with the Chinese government to offer employment to graduates of the centre who also have other skills acquired from their other degree programmes.

This is because, according to him, without proper engagement they will feel disillusioned.
He also challenged China to use the products of the centre as a base to solve the challenges of communication and be given the opportunity to work in different companies owned by Chinese.

He said: “I look forward to this centre being used as a base for prospective knowledge and knowledge transfer; a base for prospective commercial and technological advancement and a base for true diplomatic Counselor relationship and as an extension of Chinese Embassy in Nigeria”.

Ahaneku also expressed satisfaction with the growth of the Confucius Institute from where over 100 students have gained scholarship to study in China for various degrees and through which 3000 students had accessed Chinese Language Proficiency tests (HSK).

He added: “Henceforth, our windows are wide open to accommodate all academia and researchers who may have China and Nigeria as their case study to come in and explore the opportunities here for their research work”.

In her address, the director of Confucius Institute Prof. Carol Arinze-Umeobi said the Institute has established three Confucius classrooms at Federal Polytechnic, Oko, UNIZIK Primary and High school and at Enugu State College of Education, Technical.
He said the Institute now runs two categories of the programme which included Executive Class for business men and women to meet their business demands in China.

The hyena escaped after the attack at the Kruger National Park. File pic

A 15-year-old boy is in a serious condition after he was attacked in his tent by a hyena.
It happened at South Africa's world famous Kruger National Park as the boy slept in a separate compartment of his family's tent.

The hyena locked its jaws onto the boy's face and dragged him out of the tent, breaking bones in his face, according to local media reports.
William Mabasa, spokesman for South African National Parks said: "The animal attacked him on his face.

"He screamed and his parents woke up.

"Fortunately a nurse was there, as well as one of our guides."
The teenager has been flown to Johannesburg for emergency plastic and reconstructive surgery to his mouth and jaw.
His condition is described as serious.

The hyena, which escaped, is thought to have entered the campsite through a hole in the fence.
Mr Mabasa said the animal was looking for food.

"People must be aware at all times that there are wild animals around them and they must make sure that their tents are properly closed," he said.

In July last year, a safari guide was attacked by a leopard while watching wildlife with tourists in Kruger Park, and survived.

A month before that, a 22-year-old American tourist died after she was mauled by a lion which leapt through an open car window in a park outside Johannesburg.

NIGER DELTA MILITANTS OPENS FIRE IN OGUN STATE, PREVENTS DEPUTY GOVERNOR FROM VISITING

Militants

– The gunmen suspected to be Niger Delta militants opened fire on the government convoy in the Ogun state

– The militants prevented Princess Yetunde Onanuga, deputy governor, from visiting Ebute – Ibafo in Obafemi Owode local government area

The Nation reports that the gunmen suspected to be Niger Delta militants took over part of Ebute – Ibafo in Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun state and stopped the government convoy from accessing the community.

Princess Yetunde Onanuga, deputy governor, was accompanied to the community by soldiers, police officers and operatives of the Department of State Security Service (DSS).

The aim of the visit was to evaluate the level of destruction to the community.

However, Onanuga was stopped midway by the militants who opened fire on the security agents and made them into a retreat.

Secretary of the state government Taiwo Adeoluwa, who was also in the onvoy, speaking afterwards said the federal government needs to intervene in the matter.

“The team led by the deputy governor of the state cannot access a part of our state. It means without mincing words, the federal government needs to get involved in this. This is clearly beyond the capacity of the police. We believe a major task force, like the one we have in Niger Delta is necessary and desirable now,” he said.

Following the continuation of the attacks on the oil and gas facilities in the oil rich region the Federal government might deploy some war-tested soldiers from the North-East to the Niger Delta to curb activities of the militants.

At the same time, the militants dared President Buhari to visit the area.

SOLAR AIRCRAFT SETS ON 90 HOURS ATLANTIC CROSSING

The Solar Impulse 2 aircraft has set off from New York to cross the Atlantic, one of the toughest stages of its attempt to fly around the globe using solar energy.

The pilot, Bertrand Piccard, will attempt to reach Seville in Spain in about 90 hours.
It is the first ever attempt to cross the Atlantic in a purely solar-powered aircraft.
Mr Piccard takes short naps while the plane is in flight.

The Atlantic crossing will be "the longest distance we have had to fly this year," the Solar Impulse team said.
The flight was supposed to begin on Sunday but was delayed by bad weather.
Mr Piccard, a psychiatrist, is sharing the 35,000km (22,000 mile) round-the-world journey with Swiss entrepreneur Andre Borschberg.
The Impulse, which has the wingspan of a Boeing 747, is covered in 17,000 photovoltaic cells to capture the sun's rays.

It landed at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport on 11 June after a five-hour flight from Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania.
The record attempt began on 9 March 2015 in Abu Dhabi, and has taken the aircraft across Asia and the Pacific to the United States.

BREAKING NEWS : SUICIDE BOMBERS ATTACK MAIDUGURI MOSQUE (PHOTO)

One of the Boko Haram suicide bombers who died as a result of the suicide attack

– Two Boko Haram suicide bombers met their waterloo

– Both members of the insurgent group blew themselves up, while trying to attack a Mosque

– The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 27 around Damboa in Maiduguri, Borno state

According to Muazu Alhaji Misiya on his Facebook page, he states: “Two male suicide bombers attack two mosque during Tahajjud prayer. They strapped IEDs on their bodies. They stormed Kusari area near CBN Staff Quarters in Sulemanti Damboa Road, Maiduguri at about 3:10 am earlier today (Monday, June 27). However, detonated the devices on themselves. One Civilian Joint Task Force(CJTF) got injured. Alhamdullillah! (Thank God).”

An eyewitness named Bama Monguno Wali also commented on the incident in Hausa as translated. He said:

“You are saying the truth, Misiya. The incident really happened. The people tried to explode a bomb when we were inside the Mosque. Especially, we here in Northern Nigeria, here in Northeastern Nigeria, like in Maiduguri, it’s good the suicide bombers died, if it can continue in other states.”

While Hauwabk Imam writes that, “this was what happened last night as we were going to Tahajjud. It was our God who protected us. Thanks to Almighty Allah because as we were about passing by the person who was in front of us. Before we could take 15 steps forward, we heard the first blast and then the second blast. We ran back to our homes. Praise be to Allah.”

While Muhammaed Balkis writes: “This is true. Critics should stop saying Muslims are the terrorists. If Muslims were the ones killing people, why would they want to kill their fellow Muslims?”

It was a sad tale when 14 Boko Haram fighters on seven motorcycles raided Mairari village, 80 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, on Friday, June 10, while taking four women from their houses and slitting their throats.

They are four young students of the University of Douala. Once a week, they visit markets and the streets of Douala to pick up garbage.

They created in 2014, a small business called Kemit Ecology, with one goal, to fight against deforestation and environmental pollution.

“The idea of clean coal came to us because we realized that people in the mangroves where we settled and cut mangrove wood for smoking fish and the other to cut into coal. And we said, but if they can also turn into coal from garbage, why not give them this coal which is 100% more environmental because it does not pollute. So we get to solve the mangrove degradation problem,” Muller Tenkeu Rhea, Kemit Ecology (white knit) Project Sponsor said.

Here in the Douala central market, traders have abandoned leaves and vegetable waste. But it remains a gold mine for those young people who go into a new energy source.
“All these are biodegradable organic wastes. Inside we have plantain skins, banana skins, it has leaves, but the scrap of sugar cane, oil palm waste, rattan and agricultural scrap howsoever provided that they are biodegradable and organic,” Muller Tenkeu Rhea added.
At the area that Kemit Ecology has created its small production unit, garbage is spread and dried in the sun.

“We cut for drying. The rods have a large amount of water. So you have to cut them into small pieces that can dry easily and ease charring,” Eric Martial Ndzodo of Kemit Ecology said.

Once dried, the vegetable waste are reduced to ashes in a carbonization furnace. The black powder that emerges is packaged in a compactor. After ten minutes it appears in homogeneous bricks, and good ecological char.

“We dry them through our dryer. The dryer, we move to the carbonization unit for pyrolysis. Using our machine, we get our briquettes here. Clean coal,” Raoul Eboule of Kemit Ecology said.

Kemit Ecology hope that with the production of clean coal, the forest of mangroves, including the one that protects the banks of the Wouri River in Douala will be spared savage cuts of the people who use them for firewood.

“Our first carbon has several advantages to the environment. The first advantage is that it avoids deforestation and degradation of forests for the production of charcoal and the second advantage is that it effectively fights against the harmful effects of climate change.

This activity is not yet profitable. A kilogram of clean coal sells for 500 FCFA. The production is on average 5 tonnes per month. And these young people hope to mobilize financing to enable them to acquire the equipment necessary for a great production,” Muller Tenkeu Rhea, Kemit Ecology said.

These young people are the pioneers in the field in Cameroon. They believe the mass production of this clean coal will in the long term, not only make profits but also protect Cameroonian forests.

MESSI RETIRES AS CHILE STUN ARGENTINA IN COPA AMERICA

Lionel Messi sensationally announced his retirement from international football here Sunday after Argentina crashed to defeat against Chile in the Copa America Centenario final.

A crestfallen Messi confirmed his decision to quit after yet another agonizing near-miss with Argentina, who have now lost three major tournament finals in a row since 2014.
"It's a hard moment for me and the team, and it's difficult to say, but its over with the Argentina team," said Messi, who was also on the losing side in the final of the 2007 Copa America.

"I've done all I can, I've been in four finals and it hurts not to be a champion," the 29-year-old five-time world footballer of the year added.
Messi had earlier been left distraught after missing Argentina's opening penalty in the shoot-out at MetLife Stadium after the two teams had finished extra-time deadlocked at 0-0.

Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero had got the shoot-out off to a dream start by saving Chile's opening spot-kick but Messi then surrendered the initiative by blazing wildly over the bar.

A further miss by Lucas Biglia put Chile in the box seat and they duly held their nerve to win 4-2.
Argentina coach Gerardo Martino had given no inkling of Messi's decision in a post-match press conference but sympathized with his captain.

- 'Too painful' -

"He feels the way any football player must feel when he gets to a final and then loses," Martino said.

"Certainly to lose again is too painful to act any differently."
It was a carbon copy of last year's Copa America final, also won by Chile on penalties after a goalless draw.

"The final result is all that counts and the final result is Chile winning by penalties so there's not much to analyze," Martino said. "We lost the game and we left empty-handed."

SEVEN HURT AS M&D's ROLLERCOASTER DERAILS

Seven people have been injured after a rollercoaster derailed at M&D's amusement park in Motherwell, Scotland.
Police, fire and ambulance officers are working at the scene in Strathclyde Country Park and a rescue operation is under way.

The accident occurred around 3.40pm on the Tsunami ride, according to Police Scotland.
"We can confirm we are currently working with other emergency services to ascertain the full extent of the situation," a statement said.
"We can confirm there are injured parties - approximately seven people."

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said six ambulance crews and a specialist operation team are at the scene.
A statement from the theme park said the venue has been closed.
Sky's Scotland Correspondent James Matthews said: "A very serious situation appears to be unfolding.

"According to eyewitnesses it appears that part ... of this ride has fallen some distance.
"There is talk - according to people who saw this - of (the ride falling) some 20 metres.
"There are approximately seven people who are said to be injured. It's not clear how serious these injuries are.

"But a number of people at least are still trapped inside the ride."
Witness James Millerick told Sky News: "You heard shrieks from other customers at the theme park.
"When we got there the rollercoaster had come off the track entirely. (It) was upside down on the concrete path."
Katie Burns said she had just finished riding the rollercoaster and was walking past when the carriage crashed with children on board.
On Facebook, she wrote: "Literally got off the Tsunami at M&D's and then walking past and the next lot of people get on and the full thing goes off the tracks.
"Honestly never been so scared in my life, with this weather they should not be on.
"Kids and adults are still on it upside down, it's like something out a horror film, children crying and everything.

"Literally can't believe this, my heart goes out to everyone on it, a full load came off the track but and on the pavement, lik
e a horror film worse thing ever heard and seen, can't get over this."
The Tsunami ride is described on the theme park's website as "Scotland's only inverted rollercoaster".

The accident is not the first at the M&D's theme park.
Nine people had to be rescued from the Tsunami rollercoaster in July 2011 after it suffered a mechanical failure.
And in March this year, eight people had to be rescued from the Tornado rollercoaster when it became stuck 20 feet off the ground.

NIGERIAN MAN, 20 TO SERVE AT LEAST 22-YEARS JAIL TERM FOR STABBING 17-YEAR OLD ACQUAINTANCE TO DEATH

Uche Ejimonye

Nigerian man Uche Ejimonye , 20 has been handed a life sentence by Judge Wendy Joseph , who said he would serve at least 22 years behind bars for stabbing his 17-year old acquaintance known as Vasso Kakko to death in Holloway, North London on November 23, 2015.
Vasso reportedly died 35 minutes after he had his jugular vein and carotid artery snapped and was stabbed in his lower back.

Speaking during the trial, Ejimonye admitted stabbing the victim but denied the charge of murder, saying he acted in self defence.
Ejimonye recounted an incident weeks before the stabbing that led to his being stabbed in the leg by the deceased.

“He would always be saying ‘You don’t get money, you don’t get girls’ – degrading things.
When we were arguing he took out his phone and tried to snap my head shape.
He was trying to video my head shape and put it on Snapchat because I’ve got a ‘meat head’ according to him.

I threatened to bang him in the face if he didn’t delete the video, then he got quite angry and took out his Taser.
He threatened to Taser me with it – because I felt intimidated I got out my knife,” Ejimonye said.

According to Ejimonye, Vasso left and returned with his own blade resulting in him (Ejimonye) being knifed in the leg.
Ejimonye said that the next time he saw Vasso, Vasso said that he (Ejimonye) ‘violated him’ by pulling out his knife on him. He also claimed that Vasso threatened to kill him if it happened again.
Eyewitnesses told the court that there was no sign of argument or fight between both of them when he attacked the victim.

Delivering the judgement, Judge Joseph said:
To understand how he came to die, one must go back to the last day in January 2015 when Ejimonye was the victim of a knife attack – I make it absolutely clear that no one involved in this case has anything to do with that attack.
On his own account, the defendant thereafter always walked around with a large kitchen knife and I am satisfied on his own evidence that on more than one occasion he produced that knife.

He seems to think that all was fine because it was only produced when he felt he might be in danger – I must emphasise that is absolutely not fine.

The choice of circles he mixed in put him in danger, he could have stayed away from those circles but because he wished to deal in drugs he continually went to these estates and continued to mix in these circles.’

I accept that the defendant didn’t plan to meet Vasso Kakko on that evening, but in my view he knew that in going to the area he did, for the purpose he did, there was a good chance he would come across Vasso.

It’s difficult to grasp the full impact of what happened the night Vasso died – I have no doubt that the impact is not only profound, but permanent.
Not only is a boy of 17 dead and his family devastated and unable to come to terms with the loss of his young life but it must also be said how much the family of the defendant himself has been affected by all of this.
Whilst I accept that words were exchanged between you and Vasso that evening I do not find anything that happened in the square (where Vaso fell) that night offered any sort of provocation to act as you did.”

50 FEARED KILLED IN LAGOS / OGUN COMMUNITIES

Barely six days after some suspected militants killed 15 persons in Imushin community in Ogijo area of Ogun state, another 50 people were feared dead on Thursday night when militants swooped on the neighbouring communities in Elepete and Igbo Olomu, the borderline communities in Lagos/Ogun State. Saturday Vanguard reliably gathered that a large number of the victims were said to be landlords in the area, who were reported to be keeping security watch over the communities, due to incessant armed robbery attacks.

A source who was a landlord but pleaded anonymity said his colleagues landlords made bonfires in strategic points with a view to checking incessant attacks by robbers. But, tragedy struck when the militants who were coming from where they had gone to perpetrate their illegal business, mistook the landlords for law enforcement agents and went on a shooting spree.

The source said that 30 dead bodies have been accounted for from various points, and that many residents have fled the communities for safety.
Most residents who spoke with our correspondent lamented that the militants had threatened to attack the communities on reprisal attacks over the death of their colleagues few weeks ago. The residents have therefore blamed security operatives for alleged negligence resulting to loss of lives of residents and landlords. One for the residents who spoke with Saturday Vanguard said that only the Nigerian Army, the Navy and the Airforce could tackle the menace of these criminals.

“The militants came out from the creek and attacked the communities around 11p.m on Thursday night. We were outside keeping vigil over incessant armed robbery attacks. We had bonfires in some areas and the militants, having sighted the bonfires, opened fire on anyone on sight. “The whole communities have already been deserted. We need the presence of the Nigerian Army, Airforce and Navy to curtail the excesses of these militants,” he said.

Another source told Saturday Vanguard that since the first attack which led to death of 15 persons in the communities, schools in the areas have been closed down while business activities were paralyzed. The source who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity said residents of the affected communities are fleeing their houses and that the whole areas were already deserted.

However, the Ogun State Police Command said only two people were killed by suspected militants who have been laying siege on the community. The command’s image maker, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while speaking with our correspondent said only two people were killed by the militants. He said that the militants came from the creek to attack innocent residents and fled back. Adejobi, a Superintendent of Police, said the Police would try and fish out the criminals.

“Two have been confirmed dead. The militants came again and attacked the community. They came yesterday and attacked and went back to the creeks. We will only continue to try,” he said.

Feel guilty about drinking a beer or two? Don’t feel guilty. Contrary to what you might expect, "MODERATE" beer consumption is actually good for you.

                              Drink moderately

Science has shown that beer can bring many surprising health benefits even though it’s usually perceived as unhealthy. Just remember, we’re talking moderate consumption (one drink per day for women, and up to two for men), not all-night drinking sprees.
Here are some remarkable and surprising beer benefits that might change your perception of the drink.

1. It can help reduce risk of heart disease
One eye-opening study involving 200,000 subjects conducted at Italy’s Fondazion di Ricerca e Cura found that people who drank a pint of beer daily had a 31% reduced chance of heart disease. This heart-protecting power of beer stems largely from beer’s natural antioxidants called phenols . However, the study also showed risk of heart disease increased in people who consumed higher amounts of beer.

2. It can help protect against Alzheimer’s disease
Perhaps one of the most remarkable health benefits of beer is its ability to protect against Alzheimer’s. Researchers at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine analyzed several studies and came to the conclusion that moderate beer drinkers were 23% less likely to develop different forms of dementia and cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer’s. The silicon content in beer is thought to protect the brain from the harmful effects of high amounts of aluminum in the body, which are one of the possible causes of Alzheimer’s

3. It can help lower risk of diabetes
This is another remarkable benefit of moderate beer consumption. According to a 2011 Harvard study of about 38,000 middle-aged men, those who drank one to two beers daily had a 25% reduction in the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The alcohol content in beer increases insulin sensitivity, which helps prevent diabetes. Moreover, beer is a good source of soluble fiber that plays an important role in the healthy diet of people suffering from diabetes.

4. It can help prevent kidney stones
A study conducted in Finland established that moderate daily consumption of beer can reduce the risk of developing kidney stones by 40%. This health benefit is attributed to beer’s high water content (about 93%) that helps flush harmful toxins out of the body and keep the kidneys working properly. Also, compounds in hops used in brewing help slow the release of calcium from bones, which in turn prevents build up of lost calcium in the kidney in the form of stones.

5. It can help minimize risk of cancer
Beer contains an important antioxidant known as xanthohumol. Xanthohumol is known to have powerful anti-cancer properties that help fend off cancer-causing enzymes in the body. Specifically, moderate beer consumption helps prevent a certain chemical reaction that can lead to prostate cancer in men. Beer has also been shown to reduce the chances of getting breast cancer in women.

6. It can help reduce cholesterol levels
If you’d like an unorthodox method for cutting your cholesterol levels, indulging in moderate beer consumption may be the way to go. The barley used in brewing of beer contains a type of soluble fiber known as beta-glucans that has been shown to help in lowering cholesterol levels.

7. It can help manage blood pressure
You may also be interested to know that beer can help manage blood pressure. That’s according to a Harvard study that found that women aged 25 to 40 who drank beer moderately were significantly less likely to develop high blood pressure compared to women who drank wine or other alcoholic beverages.

8. It can help strengthen bones
Beer contains decent levels of silicon, an element that is linked with bone health. One study conducted at Tufts in 2009 established that older individuals who drank one or two glasses of beer daily had higher bone density, and thus were less prone to fractures than those who did not enjoy a glass of beer or wine. However, the study also found that consuming more than two drinks increased risk of bone fractures.

9. It can help treat dandruff
Another interesting fact about beer is that it is considered one of the best natural treatments for dandruff. This particular health benefit of beer is  attributed to its high yeast and vitamin B content level. Just rinse your hair with one bottle of beer two to three times a week to get rid of dandruff and make your hair extra soft and shiny.

Brexit : DAVID CAMERON RESIGNS AS BRITISH PM

David Cameron has announced that he is quitting as Prime Minister of Britain after the country voted to leave the European Union on Friday.
Cameron said he does not think he is “the captain” that will “steer the country” in the new direction.

He said this in a broadcast outside of Downing Street on Friday.
“The British people have voted to leave the EU and their will must be respected.
The will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered.
There can be no doubt about the result.

Across the world people have been watching the choice that Britain has made.
This will require strong, determined and committed leadership.
I am very proud to have been Prime Minister of this country for six years.
I have held nothing back.

The British people have made a very clear decision to leave.
I think the country requires fresh leadership.
I do not think I can be the captain to take the country to its next destination.
In my view I think we should have a new prime minister in place by the start of the Conservative conference in October,” he said.

N-DELTA: NEW MILITANT GROUP EMERGES, THREATENS TO BOMB 3RD MAINLAND BRIDGE AND OTHERS

Sapele—President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent efforts to bring succour to the crisis ravaged oil rich Niger Delta region may witness yet another hindrance as a new militant group, Asawana Deadly Force of Niger Delta, ADFND, emerged, yesterday, in the region, threatening to cripple the oil industry across the nine Niger Delta states unless the Federal Government grants them, “Niger Delta Republic in the next couple of days.”

The group in a statement by its leader, Commander Olomubini Kakarakokoro, a.k.a No Mercy, said that,
“Except our demand for Niger Delta Republic is granted, without further notice to the Federal Government, we shall proceed to bomb Bonga field flow station, Asaba- Onistha Bridge, Third Mainland Bridge and other major bridges in the Southtern part of the country, just for a start.

“The Federal Government should as a matter of urgency, withdraw all the military check points from the riverside areas of the Niger Delta, else we shall proceed to match against any baby military formation in the region without further notice.

“We are most dreaded, deadly and dangerous group in Niger Delta. Our team is comprised of specialists in different fields of war, and is poised to win the struggle for a Niger Delta State. Our struggle is not for monetary benefit or the so-called monthly N65,000 amnesty stipend. It is for the liberation and the development of the Niger Delta region.

“We therefore, warn every other group or persons as regards the fake dialogue process embarked upon by the Federal Government to know that they are not doing that for us. We are taking over from our brothers, the Niger Delta Avengers.

“As we speak all preparations and plans are on ground to strike and bring down the crude oil production to 0%, irrespective of the of the military presence in the region. The Federal Government will hear from us"

INTERESTING!!! TAKING COCONUT WATER FOR A WEEK COULD DO THIS THINGS?

Coconut water is the ultimate thirst quencher and offers a tasty alternative to water.
It's better than a sports drink. Dubbed "nature's Gatorade",
coconut water is a natural isotonic drink that provides many of the same benefits as formulated sports drinks, including the electrolytes calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium, but in their natural form.

This pure liquid is packed with nutrients that yield an array of health benefits. Here are 8 Benefits of Coconut Water that explain why it has become so popular:

1. Strengthens Your Immune System

Daily consumption of coconut water has the ability to strengthen your immune system. It also has the ability to remove bacteria in the body that causes gum disease and urinary tract infections. Coconut water combats viruses that cause you to catch a cold, even during cold season, you find your health is exceptional.

2. You'll Feel More Energetic

Coconut water enhances the thyroid gland hormones, which gives you an energy boost at a cellular level. After a week of consuming coconut water consistently, you may just see a spring in your step that wasn’t there before.

3. You’ll Feel Better Internally

Coconut water eliminates toxins from the body and breaks down kidney stones. As a natural diuretic, it’s really helpful for those that have kidney disease. It cleanses the urinary tract, as well as bladder channels too, so after a week you may find yourself feeling a lot more healthy and energetic.

4. Improves Your Digestive System

Coconut water is excellent for the digestive system as it gives us a lot of our daily requirements for fiber. It’s not always easy to obtain the amount of fiber per day that your body requires. When you consistently drink coconut water for a week, you’ll find yourself becoming more, ahem… regular. When gastric acid is eliminated regularly, you’ll have a lot more energy because the body is able to run at an optimum level.

5. Compatible with Human Blood.

Since it is isotonic to human plasma, coconut water can be used in extreme emergencies to quickly rehydrate the human body if administered intravenously. It is not uncommon for the drink to be used in poorer, third-world countries to save human lives.

6. Relieves Certain Types of Headaches For Good

If you’ve suffered from headaches, you know how terrible they can be. Coconut water can be used as a means of hydrating yourself properly and subsequently preventing headaches daily. Coconut water may be the answer if your headaches have something to do with hypertension or dehydration.
If you’re suffering from headaches due to dehydration, it’s because you’ve lost essential fluids. This may have happened due to physical activities when you lost too much fluid or perhaps you have a hangover. Coconut water is a headache-solver, in most cases, due to it being a natural elixir packed with electrolyte-balancing nutrients. Through drinking coconut water you’ll regain the fluids that you’ve lost, putting you back on the mend quickly.

7. Radiant Skin

One cup of coconut water will ensure that your skin is radiant thanks to the incredible effects of hydration. Skin, of course, is the largest organ in the body and if you’re not hydrated, your skin suffers greatly. If you consistently drink coconut water daily, your skin will see noticeable improvements. By adding coconut water to mineral water, you’ll find yourself drinking more fluids and getting maximum hydration. Positive effects are seen throughout the body but the skin may take some time to shine.

8. You’ll Feel Younger

If you’re tired of eating carrots in the hopes of saving your eyesight, coconut water may just be your answer. Coconut water has the ability to reverse visions problems such as glaucoma and cataracts. Through drinking coconut water, you’ll have boosts of energy, your risk of heart attacks and strokes will be reduced, and the aging process will be slowed down at a cellular level.

When searching for the perfect fresh coconut to enjoy, be sure to steer clear of those that have a hard brown shell as this is an indication that it is mature. Instead, look for those that are young and green on the exterior as they usually contain a large supply of the actual coconut water substance. To test it out, simply shake the coconut up and down to gauge how much liquid it contains.

ONE HACKER FIGHTS THE ISLAMIC STATE WITH P###

A hacker said he has hacked at least 250 social media accounts of Islamic State members over the last month and swapped their content with porn and gay pride content

The hacker, who goes by the name WauchulaGhost, is waging his own war against the Islamic State by erasing reference to jihad with images that say “I [heart] porn,” and “I’m gay and I’m proud and images of nude women.

“There was a few of us that discovered a vulnerability,” he told CNNMoney. “We thought, ‘Hey let’s go start taking their accounts and humiliating them.'”
Since Sunday’s deadly attack in Orlando, WauchulaGhost has changed his strategy from merely posting images to shock and offend Islamic State members to replacing their flags with rainbow flags and gay couples embracing.

“You had all those innocent lives lost,” he said. “I just felt there’s something I could do against the Islamic State to defend those people.”

When he was 16, he bought his first computer, and took it apart, when it wouldn’t run after that, he took it to a local big-box store. The tech guru there taught the teen who would eventually take the name “Wauchula Ghost” how to hack. He’s now a member of the hacker’s group Anonymous.

Since 2015, Twitter has — in moves lawmakers have fervently supported — shut down more than 125,000 accounts for posting threats or promotion of terrorist acts.

WauchulaGhost has been assembling a public list called, “Jacked accounts,” pointing out the extremist content to Twitter, which has in turn suspended the accounts.

He says he will continue hacking Islamic State accounts as a kind of Twitter crime fighter, humiliating and offending and exposing religious extremists outside the law.

“I think we’re there to serve a purpose, at least I know I am,” he said. “My goal waking up in the morning [is to] see messages from Daesh (the Arabic name for the Islamic State), telling me they’re going to kill me or cut my head off. The madder they get, the happier I get.”

MOSQUITO REPELLING 📺 THAT PREVENTS MALARIA AND ZIKA VIRUS

The Indian arm of South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc has begun selling a TV with a feature that it says repels mosquitoes, which can spread diseases such as malaria, Zika and dengue.

The TV’s “Mosquito Away Technology” uses ultrasonic waves that are inaudible to humans but cause mosquitoes to fly away, according to the company. It was released in the country on Thursday, LG said.

The same technology, which was certified as effective by an independent laboratory near Chennai, India, has been used by LG in air conditioners and washing machines, the company said.
The technology, which also functions when the TV is switched off, is available in two models, priced at 26,500 rupees and 47,500 rupees ($394 and $706).

The TV is targeted at lower-income consumers living in conditions that would make them vulnerable to mosquitoes.
It will go on sale next month in the Philippines and Sri Lanka. Kim Sang-yeol, an LG Electronics official, said there are no plans for now to market it elsewhere.

The company began developing the set before the outbreak of the Zika virus in Latin America, which has fueled concern over safety at the Olympic Games set to begin in August in Rio de Janeiro.
LG said on its website that the TV is not intended to replace other mosquito-deterrent devices.

NIGERIA’S ‘MOST WANTED NOTORIOUS JOB SCAMMER’ ARRESTED

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has arrested one of Nigeria’s most wanted notorious fraudsters involved in online advertising scams on non-existing vacancies in government agencies, PRNigeria is reporting.

                                  Abubakar Rilwan

The suspected kingpin, whose real name was given as Abubakar Rilwan, had been declared wanted by some security agencies in the country before his arrest.

A top customs officer stated: “Abubakar Rilwan, who is evidently disabled is one of the principal actors and suspect in a job/auction scam syndicate. Whatever he lacks in physical ability, he makes up for in his exceptional ability to manipulate and swindle his victims.

“He has duped desperate job and auction seekers to the tune of over 20 million naira, sometimes using the services of lawyers.

“In one of his escapades, he collected money from 7 (seven) job seekers in Taraba State, issued them fake appointment letters, and caused them to travel all the way to Bayelsa State for fake training. They got there before realizing they were duped.”

While Mr. Rilwan is currently in the custody of the Nigeria Customs Service undergoing further investigation, other security agencies that had declared him wanted for related offences are waiting to interrogate him.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Customs Service, Wale Adeniyi confirmed the arrest.

N1.3BN POSTING FEES BY CORPS MEMBERS SHOULD BE PROBED - CAIFAL

Citizens Advocacy Initiative for Accountable Leadership, CAIFAL, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate the N1.3billion realised from the illegal N3,000 paid by prospective National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, members for them to access their postings in the last three years.

Chief Abdullai Dania, Chairman, board of trustees of CAIFAL, addressed newsmen in Lagos, on the illegal registration fees charged prospective NYSC, members by the management of the Corp since 2014, said even though the private company hired by the management of NYSC had admitted during a public hearing on the illegal levy that about N1.6bn was realised, the group investigation shows that over N2.4bn had so far been realised.

He said, “Since 2014, NYSC introduced the payment of N3,000 as fees paid by graduating Nigerian students popularly referred to as “prospective corps members” (PCM), who are to be “mobilised into the one year “compulsory and mandatory service to their fatherland.

“To charge Nigerian Young Graduates or PCM money, as a condition precedent for them to be mobilized to participate in the NYSC and to be re-deployed after been mobilized, is very wrong, improper, fraudulent, illegal, unlawful, unconstitutional, condemnable and conspicuously contradictory to the positive change and anti-corruption policies of the current Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and we demand the president and the EFCC to probe same.
“To underscore the level of this desecration, impunity and disdain, the perpetrators of this fraud, went a notch by further introducing and collecting N1,000 from any mobilized Corps Member who wishes to redeploy or relocate from one State to another. So, the NYSC Scheme, contrary to its primary essence, is fast becoming a revenue generating Agency like the Customs, Immigration, NNPC and the likes.

“The perpetrators of these fraudulent charges have claimed that the fees collecting project was a Public Private Partnership, PPP, arrangement. The question is: does that confer the right on them to abuse their offices and violate the Law setting up the NYSC, and even the constitution?''
