NYSC, GOOGLE TRAIN 2,000 YOUTHS ON DIGITAL SKILLS



Over 2,000 youths and other stakeholders in Taraba State have benefitted from a free digital skill acquisition programme geared towards tapping into the vast opportunities to create wealth using Google apps.

The digital skills training was sponsored by Google and powered by Kinetic Associates in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Taraba State Secretariat.
Declaring the training session open, Hon. James Atosoma Gani, Taraba State

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, lauded the synergy between NYSC in the state and Kinetic Associates noting that the gesture by Google was unique and unprecedented.
In his presentation, Akingbade Akintunde, chief facilitator of training programme, told the participants that a comprehensive analysis of the google apps and numerous sophisticated online tools and applications was vital to keep pace with the changing global social and work environment, including marketing, advertising, information, web creation, hosting and blogging, among others.

He stressed need for individuals and organisations to be acquainted with the growing array of digital platforms to keep pace with the changing world.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Mr. Emmanuel Attah, the State Co-ordinator of NYSC, Taraba State, charged participants to key into the vast potentials for entrepreneurship and wealth creation via Google and the larger cyber space.

Participants in the two-day training programme were drawn from varied background including NYSC where state officials and corps members participated.

Others are private organisations, government parastatals including the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Education, Nigerian Television Authority, Taraba State; Taraba State Television, Hope Afresh Foundation, Taraba State; tertiary Institutions and secondary schools.
